Costa Ricans were in for a mesmerizing view of the sky earlier this week. According to ABC, a strange, multi-colored cloud appeared in the sky over several Costa Rican cities, including the capital of San Jose.
Everyone was confused yet very delighted when they witnessed this beautiful phenomenon of nature. Some of the observers even went as far as stating that the strange cloud formations signaled the end of the world.
This event was in fact a rare weather phenomenon called “cloud iridescence”. According to professionals, the striking colors are produced due to a mix of light, water droplets and ice particles that causes the light to refract and thus creates the spectacle.
