When you think about German Shepherds, the first thing that pops into your mind is probably how big and scary they are. They are extremely obedient, eager to learn and have the built for the job. While they are top picks for military or police service, they do make great pets as well. These dogs can be extremely gentle as well. If you don’t think an 80 pound dog can have the heart of angel, then the following video might make you reconsider.
This video shows just how sweet and caring a German Shepherd can be. One family had kept some chicks in the house. These tiny birds needed constant care, so they wanted to keep a close eye on them. But the one that is most excited about meeting the chicks was the family dog, Thorin. This German Shepherd was so keen on meeting the tiny little chicks, and it’s just heartwarming to watch.
Thorin was alert from the start. He kept a close eye on his owner, who was taking the chicks out of their enclosure. When she finally released them, Thorin was a true babysitter to them. He sniffed the chicks and made sure every one of them was doing fine. The chicks too didn’t feel threatened around him. They didn’t take long to warm up to the big dog!
