When I was a kid, I looked forward to “snow days” every winter–the days when the snow or ice was bad enough to keep the school buses from running, so we got the day off from school. I loved sleeping in and then getting up to do all the things kids do in snow: sled, snowball fights and just general having fun.
While the students of Waterloo Elementary School in Maryland spent the recent winter storm Jonas inside their homes under a cozy blanket. Their principal decided to make the most of the snow day by heading to school, setting up a camera, and creating an epic viral video. Sean Martin is now on his 11th year as principal and this man just might be the coolest principal ever!
Sean went to school and recorded himself having fun in the hallways, shooting basketballs in the gym, and sliding across the floors. The school janitor also appears for a special cameo. The students, teachers, and the parents of the school were delighted when they saw the video for themselves.
42-year-old Martin says that he thought his staff and community would appreciate a lighthearted perspective about what goes on in school during snow days. He sent it to his staff first and before he realized it, it went totally viral. Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
