Pineapples are delicious fruits. This sweet and fleshy produce reminds me of a vacation — warm summer air, the beach, and a chilled Pinacolada! Unfortunately, Pineapples are also very controversial. The pineapple on pizza debate is still going strong. Everybody seems to have an opinion on these exotic fruits! But wait till you find out about Halloween pineapples!
Since people love the fruit so much, they have decided to go with a tropical twist for Halloween. They are swapping falls favorite fruit, Pumpkins with this fun alternative. Instagram seems to agree that Jack-o-lanterns made from pineapples are an excellent swap to the traditional Pumpkin lanterns. And well, it is pretty creepy.
The spiky exterior of the fruit seems to go well with the holiday’s spooky spirit. Also, for that reason, the fruit’s tough skin can limit the carving options. But not to worry, we have a solution to work around this problem.
Similar to a pumpkin, you have to cut and remove the top of the pineapple. Save the top though you will be able to use it as the head later on. Next, core the insides of the pineapple so that it becomes hollow. This will make it easier to work with, and you can enjoy the tasty fruit! Finally comes the fun part, use the knife to carve a face into the Pineapple. Make sure to go along the ridges for easy carving. And don’t forget to use your imagination!
These fruity decorations won’t hold up as much pumpkin lanterns do. But the uniqueness of the centerpiece will surely make up for it!
