The incredible woman featured in the video below is called Natalie Trayling. She was eighty years old when this clip was taken. The video shows her playing her original masterpiece out in the streets of Melbourne. This elderly composer is very unique and she is known for her brilliant street performances in Australia. This footage was uploaded by her proud son, Matthew. He says this musical piece was composed by Natalie between the age of 13 and 14, and was finished some years later.
Natalie celebrated her 80th birthday on the 23rd of October, 2014. This video of hers managed to gain over 1,000,000 views on her 80th birthday itself! Now the clip has more than six million views. The world instantly became a huge fan. She is not just an old lady playing the piano, but she is a musical genius. Her son also believes that Natalie is “arguably the best ‘unknown’ composer in the world today”. He says she still plays the piano and that it is her life.
I have heard many piano performances before, but Natalie’s original piece definitely brought a huge smile on my face. Let’s hope she never stops playing!
