According to the latest data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), about 10.5% of households in the United States were food-insecure in 2019. This means that at some point during the year, they did not have enough food for all household members due to a lack of resources.
Here’s a video that asks an interesting question: what would you do if you were confronted by a child who said they were hungry? Would you ignore them and go about your day, or would you do something about it?
According to the organization Feeding America, about one in eight children in the U.S. are at risk for hunger. And the U.S. is in much better shape than most of the world, so it’s fair to say childhood hunger is something we should be concerned about.
In the clip below a young girl goes people to people asking for food, and their reaction and concerns are wonderful. However, this was just a social experiment.
