I’ve posted a lot of articles about parrots, cockatoos, cockatiels and parakeets talking, singing and even dancing. But this is the first one I’ve seen do a comedy act and it’s pretty funny.
This bird is an Indian ringneck parakeet, also known as a rose-ringed parakeet(scientific name: Psittacula krameri manillensis). The are well known as good talkers and they are a very social bird. According to thesprucepets.com website, their life expectancy is about 25 to 30 years, but some can live up to 50 years. The are typically bright lime green with blue tail feathers and yellow under the wings, but there are also birds who are a beautiful blue all over.
This particular bird has obviously been trained to talk human words and play human games. So he decides to try it out on the neighbor’s cat, who happens to be looking at him (hungrily, in my opinion!) through the window.
I’m not sure if the bird is teasing or not, but it certainly looks like he’s having fun. The cat, not so much. Ha!
