The underwater world looks like something straight out of a child’s fairy tale book. It is so magical! One of the most fascinating things about it is probably the sea creatures. Orcas fall on the top of my list of the most beautiful creatures ever.
Orcas, also known as killer whales, are highly intelligent marine mammals that captivate both scientists and the public with their remarkable abilities and complex social structures. They are the largest members of the dolphin family, with males reaching lengths of up to 9 meters (30 feet) and weighing over 5,400 kilograms (12,000 pounds). Orcas are widely distributed throughout the world’s oceans, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, and can be found in both coastal and open waters.
Known for their striking black and white coloration, with a distinctive white patch above their eye and a sleek, streamlined body, orcas have a reputation as apex predators and are renowned for their hunting prowess. It would be a pleasure watching them live, that’s probably what Louis Jobidon thought when he went solo kayaking near Hornby Island in British Columbia, Canada.
But what Louis got was a lot more than he bargained for. During his adventurous trip, Louis noticed some orcas (also known as killer whales) in the distance. But when you see what happened next, it will leave you with your heart racing! Louis says that he feels lucky to have experienced it. Thankfully he caught it all on video for us!
