Do you ever try to make omelets to give up and make scrambled eggs in the end? That is a daily struggle for me. If you can relate, then you need to try this “omelet in the hole” recipe! All you need to make this easy dish are:
- Butter
- 2 slices of white bread
- 3 eggs (whisked)
- 1 onion
- Green and red peppers
- Ham
- Shredded cheese
The first step to make this delicious breakfast is to cut a window into the bread. Be careful not to break the crust, though. It’s the rind that contains everything inside. And don’t throw the insides away! You’ll need it later.
Second, prepare your meat, veggies, and cheese. Slice and dice them to your preferred shape and size. Also, feel free to include any other combo that you may find in your refrigerator. Additionally, mushrooms and spinach are great options that I’d recommend!
After you prepare your ingredients, put your pan over medium to high heat. Add a tablespoon of butter and wait for it to melt and sizzle. As soon as it does, add your sliced produce and sautee until they are soft. Then, divide the veggie-meat mix into two piles and frame it with the bread crust. Now pour the whisked egg after seasoning with salt and pepper.
Add finishing touches by adding your favorite cheese to the egg. Cook the mixture for 3-5 minutes. Place the inside of the bread that you cut earlier on top of the egg mixture. Cook a bit more till you think the egg’s cooked through, and flip! Toast the bread for a minute or two, and you are done. Watch this detailed instruction for the recipe:
