I just love a good swing dance and here’s a couple that puts together one of the best Lindy Hop routines I’ve seen in a while.
Swing dancing has been around for decades and is a type of partner dance that originated in the United States during the 1920s. It was popularized by the African American community in the Harlem Renaissance, and it quickly spread across the country. It gained even more popularity with the rise of the swing bands of the 1930s and 40s, and the style of swing changed over the years. By the 40s, the Lindy Hop was the most popular swing dance.
We’ve posted a few videos of this couple, Nils Andrén and Bianca Locatelli, because they are great. As one reviewer wrote, “They do it really good, being very expressive and musical, very [well interpreted], enjoying their dance and making the audience get a thrill out of [it].”
Here they dance to Duke Ellington’s “Wailing Interval,” played by the band The Darksiders. It’s a complicated tune, at times difficult to translate into the appropriate movements, but you’d never know that watching Nils and Bianca.
This video was recorded in Valencia, Spain, during the On the Beat music festival organized by Spirit Valencia – Lindy Hop, on September 17, 2022. I’m pretty sure you’re gonna feel yourself moving to this beat! Watch this hopping video below and let us know in your Facebook comments what you think of this pair!
