We have grown up learning, “Do not judge a book by its cover”. But how many of us actually practice the saying? We’d be lying if we say we do. Therefore, the following incident shared on Facebook is a huge eye-opener.
Andy Ross, a construction worker, and former army man, had ended up being covered in mud. As he entered a store, he noticed a little girl staring at him. Knowing how curious children are, Ross did not pay much heed to her. However, when he overheard her mother, he could not let it go without giving her a piece of his mind!
The mother had said, “That is why you need to stay in school!” The snark comment crushed Ross’ self-esteem. So he decided to have a very ‘educational’ conversation with the mother-daughter duo.
To summarise all that he claims to have said to the pair, Ross made it clear that he has graduated from college. He even told them that he is proud of his tattoos as they signify his service in the Armed Forces. He added that the elk on his hat stands for Evergreen State Outdoors that he co-owns. Lastly, he explains his choice of working as a construction worker as he wants to be a part of building America. Even though we do not know the mother’s reaction to Ross’ speech, we are proud of him for standing up for himself.
COMMENT if you agree with Ross. What would you do if you were in a similar situation? SHARE with everyone to educate people on the fact that one must not assume another’s level of education and occupation-based on his/ her looks.
