When you hear the term Cat lady, how many felines do you imagine? 25, 50, or even 100; well, you might need to scale up way more to define this Cat Lady. Meet Lynea Lattanzio, a 67-year-old woman who is obsessed with saving animals.
Roughly in 24 years, Lynea has saved 30,000 cats and 7,100 dogs. Back in the ’90s, once Lynea was out of retirement, she decides to help a local veterinarian. Hence Lynea took on the job of a surgical veterinary technician. At that time, she had 15 cats, and the expenses helped to take of them. Slowly and steadily, Lynea decided to welcome more cats into her home. Fifteen became 50, then 100, 200, eventually a thousand.
Yes, you heard me right. Lynea shared her 4200 square meter home with a total of 1000 cats and kitten. Her home is now a cat house, a sanctuary for rescued cats with boundaries. Taking care of the felines obviously doesn’t come easy. So, she has volunteers who help her in the feeding and other necessary processes. Not just that, the expense Lynea covers every year for the felines’ food, and medical bills come to a total of 1.6 million dollars.
