Homelessness is a complex issue influenced by various factors such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, mental health challenges, and substance abuse. But according to the Annual Homeless Assessment Report to Congress by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), it’s estimated there are about 580,000 homeless people in the U.S. on any given night.
And if you go downtown in many of the country’s largest cities, you’ll see the extent of the problem, with people living in tents and even, in some places, crowding the sidewalks and parking lots.
In this video, a YouTuber who goes by kNOw Cash is out on the streets, saying that he will sing for food. While it’s not quite clear if he is actually homeless, he presents himself that way and also uses his popularity to try to raise awareness for the issue.
Here he strikes up a conversation with a couple of women walking by and offers to sing for them in exchange for food or cash. After a bit, he launches into John Legend’s “All of Me,” and the result is magical. His voice is so good that, as the camera pans around the crowd, you can see more than one person with a tear on their face.
