I am sure all of you have experienced that excruciating feeling when you get stuck behind a large vehicle; for example, a semi-truck. When you are behind these giant monstrosities, you can never be too fast or too slow. It is tormenting to say the least! In many such cases, people try to pass them. But beware; this has been fatal for many drivers.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.35 million people die each year due to road traffic accidents worldwide. This equates to an average of almost 3,700 deaths per day. The vast majority of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, where road safety measures and infrastructure may be lacking. Countries like Argentina.
Most of the roads in Argentina are one lane in either direction, and people who attempt to pass semi-trucks are being killed in record numbers. According to statistics, almost one person dies every hour in a traffic accident, 80 percent of which are on roadways. To counterattack this, Samsung came up with an idea that instead of changing lives, saves them.
They installed a wireless camera on the front of the vehicle and four large monitors on the back that were wired to show the camera’s view. In other words, people driving behind the large truck could look at the monitors and see what was ahead of the truck. It was an ingenious solution to the traffic problem of people wanting to pass the large trucks! Watch the full video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
