Here’s a combination of two great throwback stories that combine into a Christmas blockbuster: how the movie It’s a Wonderful Life came to be.
Some of you are old enough to remember Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story,” a radio serial that told the back story, usually unknown, behind people and events that were more familiar. And nearly everyone, young and old, is familiar with 1954’s It’s a Wonderful Life movie classic. But Harvey tells a story that most of us probably don’t know.
The original name, for example, was “The Greatest Gift” and the story was rejected everywhere it was submitted. The original purchaser, RKO Pictures, bought it at Cary Grant’s suggestion, then sold it without making it. And then some other stuff happened…
Watch this video to hear the rest of the story–you won’t be sorry–and leave us a comment on what you think of this Christmas classic.
