It is in a dog’s nature to be protective and loyal. But some canines are exceptionally kind and tolerant as well. Moreover, this comes with the upbringing of the animal, along with proper training. Stella is the epitome of a good dog. And it shows as she handles this adorable baby wombat!
Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary in Australia is home to many sick, injured, and orphaned wombats. Here, they heal and develop bush skills so that they can release the marsupials in the wild. That is where Stella comes in. She is a guardian dog at the sanctuary who keeps the creatures safe. Furthermore, the wombats know that Stella is not a threat and love playing with her. Luckily, the Maremma Sheepdog is incredibly patient and loving!
It’s good that the wombats get to interact with Stella as it gets them a taste of how it’s like to be around other animals in the wild. However, this baby wombat goes a little farther! Yhi, the little joey, thinks that Stella is eating something when she’s actually itching her belly. Unfortunately, it wants treats and doesn’t leave the dog alone. The greedy wombat then proceeds to give her kisses to see what she’s hiding in her mouth. And when that doesn’t work, she nips the dog’s tongue! Watch the funny interaction below:
