Being a grandparent is wonderful–most of the time, that is. The parts that are great, like laughing with your grandchild, watching them do sweet or funny things and seeing them learn how to navigate the world, are really great. But every once in a while something happens that’s not all that great. And this grandma certainly experienced one of those times.
Here Grandma is putting her sleeping grandchild to bed–a normal occurrence for grandparents, since it seems we want to hold the baby as much as we can. So Grandma is being slow and careful to make sure she doesn’t wake the baby.
Well it turns out these parents have purchased a huge (and probably expensive) crib for the little tot, and it also turns out that Grandma is kind of short. So there’s a step stool she has to use to put the baby down gently–she’s not tall enough to do it otherwise.
And that’s where the (for lack of a better word) “fun” starts. Grandma is either not used to the procedure or she misjudges her center of gravity since she’s holding the baby. Either way, as she leans down to put the baby on the mattress…
