These days, smartphones have become an extension of us. Almost everyone has a smartphone these days, and almost everyone is addicted to it in some way. Over the years, phones have become one of the most major causes of traffic accidents. Driving mishaps and casualties have increased, partly due to people using phones while driving.
Studies have shown that cell phones cause almost 1.2 million traffic accidents worldwide every year. Texting while driving might not feel like a big deal to most. Looking away from the road for just a few seconds at a time doesn’t feel too dangerous. Despite repeated warnings, people still text on the road. An organization based in Belgium came up with a very unique way to convince people not to text while driving.
The people in this video thought they were driving to earn their license. The instructor told them that the government had mandated drivers to pass the test while texting, as so many people do it. What happens next is shocking, but not that surprising. Even in an empty driving course, with the instructor telling them to text only simple texts, they couldn’t drive properly. All of them inevitably crash, and they were totally shaken. Imagine how dangerous it would be on a real road?
This video took a very extreme measure to show just how dangerous texting and driving is, but perhaps it will convince more people this way. Watch the full video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
