Country singer Dolly Parton is truly a legend. This amazing woman has influenced many people all over the world and watching her perform is a privilege in itself. The video below features her recent performance from The Voice. She sang her 1971 hit, “Coat of Many Colors”, for the live audience and she describes her choice as a sweet little song that means more to her than the others.
She also shared some thoughts about her upcoming movie of the same name. According to Rolling Stone, this song was written about a handmade coat Parton’s mother, Avie Lee, sewed for her when she was a young girl. Dolly was one of 12 children from a poor family raised in the backwoods of east Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains. But just look at her now! She is an inspiration, isn’t she?
