To keep the peace, cops work unusual hours, and doughnut shops were one of the only places open past midnight in 1950s America. As a result, the doughnut shop would have been the ideal option for a cop looking for a bite to eat at 3 a.m.
This is the story of a 9-year-old girl named Brooke who did something wonderful for a cop who helped her one day at a gas station. She was trying to buy donut holes at a gas station near Pittsburgh, but she didn’t have enough cash. Fortunately for her, a state trooper was in line behind her and offered to pay for her delicious sweet treat.
When the little girl got home, she wrote a heartfelt thank-you card to the cop who had paid for her meal and included a $10 bill as payment. When the police at the station received this letter from her, they were very happy for her kindness so all of them bought a $50 gift card to a toy store to thank her.
There are about 700,000 police officers in the U.S. alone–if you get a chance today, let’s let them know how much we appreciate them. Watch the full video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
