The holiday season is a time when we all pack up from our busy and celebrate what is close to our hearts. This usually looks like family, friends, and food. However, not everyone has the luxury to celebrate Christmas. Especially during times of war.
War is a horrible time for everyone. Although it affects everyone around, the people fighting the battle are affected directly. They don’t get to see their family for ages, and you never know the outcome of these dangerous circumstances. Soldiers were in the same situation during World War 1. We can see a reenactment of the Christmas Truce of 1914, where we see German and American soldiers.
The soldiers are doing their jobs, fighting battles for their home country. But something special happens on that day. An American soldier lifts his hat. The opposition army is confused as to why they would do that. So they handle the situation cautiously. Soon enough, soldiers on both sides of the battle walk towards each other. What happens next is entirely unexpected! Two young men greet each other. They share their life stories and wish each other a Merry Christmas. They hear the sound of a blast, which signals them to go back to being enemies. But this single moment is humanity at its finest. You have to watch the sweet ending of this clip:
