Experiencing or dealing with an armed robbery is a very traumatic experience, it can be stressful and dangerous at the same time. In some cases, it even ends with someone getting shot by the robber. Staying calm in this kind of situation is important, however, how calm can you be? The CCTV footage captured this man named Tony Tovar from St. Louis, Missouri who seemed to be the calmest person to experience a robbery.
How calm was he? While the armed robber walks into the Behrmann’s Tavern and all the other customers went down to get cover and hide, he continued to sit on the barstool while checking out his phone and sipping his beer. The robber who was holding a shotgun walks up to him and points the gun on the side of his stomach, but he continued to drink his beer and even checked his phone. The robber tried to take his phone, but he refused to give it. The robber then walks over to the other side of the bar to find the cash register and points the gun at Tony again. What he did next was unexpected.
He pulls out a cigarette and lights it calmly. The robber continued to rummage the bar to look for money. He said in an interview, “I said not another punk trying to pull a punk move. I’m so tired of people in South City thinking they can control people because they wanna muscle their way in with firearms or attitudes or some sort of aggression.” He continued, “I wasn’t really concerned. I just had a really good feeling he wasn’t out to harm anybody, he just wanted drug money.”
The robber was reported to only take a few hundred dollars and was taken into police custody. Watch the video here:
