Here’s a great story about a public worker who was minding her own business, doing her job and noticed something wrong. She didn’t drive by or continue with her work: she stopped the bus and did exactly the right thing.
Jeannie Mitchell is a bus driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) in Wisconsin. Her bus camera shows her driving her bus route, talking on the phone with someone, when she notices two children walking toward her alone on the street.
“Where are these babies going?” she says, then pulls the bus over next to the children and asks them the same thing. When they don’t answer and she sees how young they are, she gets out and talks to the kids. Then she calls the police.
Luckily the police were able to find the kids mother and she came to pick them up. Jeanie says, “If the parent hadn’t shown up, I would still be thinking ‘What happened to those children?’ But once the police showed up and did their part, I felt a lot better.”
This is the kind of everyday hero story we need more of! Watch the full video below and let us know in the Facebook comments what you think of Jeannie’s quick thinking and heroic attitude.
