Getting your daily mode of commute stolen is quite frustrating. A lot of times, the investment someone makes in a car or a bicycle is all they can afford. When that gets robbed, you are stripped of the freedom to travel on the desired schedule and not forget the added cost.
Much similar was the case of Amanda Needham, whose bicycle was stolen outside of her house in Newyork city. Amanda is a writer/ producer; the cycle was a convenient way to make the commute. When the incident occurs, she wrote about it in her blog post. Declaring it was half her fault, the other half her husband’s fault. And a cent percent’s the thief’s fault.
But that’s not where she stopped. By this time, usually, people report the stolen item. Amanda took the help of words. She put a big cardboard sign outside her home stating, ”
“To the person who stole my bicycle, I hope you need it more than I do. It was $200 used, and I need it o get to work. I can’t afford another one. Next time, steal a hipster’s Peugeot. Or not steal! PS: Bring it back,”
Two teenagers felt really bad after reading this sign and offered her a mountain bike. However, the story doesn’t end here. An art dealer Steve Powers paid Amanda, “$200 for the sign. Once Amanda had enough money to buy a new cycle. She decided to donate the one Amanda was gifted.
