I’ve seen a lot of good child stars on the various talent shows but I can’t ever get used to (or enough of) a knock-em-dead performance by a youngster. And what we have in this video is nothing less than that.
10-year-old Angelica Hale of Atlanta, Georgia, has not had it easy in life. When she was four years old, she got a bacterial pneumonia that sent her into septic shock with multiple organ failure. They put her in a medically-induced coma and she spent 80 days in the hospital. To top it off, her mother had to donate a kidney to her a year later.
So Angelica knows what it’s like to fight for something you want–like your life. Soon afterward, she began taking vocal lessons and her parents discovered she was a very good singer. She won various singing competitions and decided to audition for America’s Got Talent.
She made it past the audition round singing Andra Day’s “Rise Up” but knew she had to up her game in the Judges Cuts round if she wanted to make it to the live shows. So she decided on Alicia Keys’s “Girl on Fire,” a powerhouse song that could either result in an explosion of fireworks or a real dud. I’ll let you decide how she does!
