There are so many diseases that one encounters as one grows older. There is diabetes, hypertension and even cancer. One of the most terrible conditions one can have has to be Alzheimer’s. It might not cause much physical pain, but it takes a great toll on a person’s mental wellness. The patient has a hard time remembering things or recalling past events. The worst part is that there is no cure for it, and the condition only worsens over time.
For the patient, memories can be rally hazy and confusing. As the disease progresses, the patient can even forget their loved ones and all the memories they created together. But every once in a while, even they can have moments of clarity and normalcy. For instance, take the story below. Melvyn Amrine is an 83-year-old man who lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has lived his life with his loving wife Doris. Sadly, Melvyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s three years ago.
Melvyn’s memory was fading away. But despite his illness, he still remembered one important thing. Every Mother’s day, brings home some flowers for his wife. He has been doing this on Mother’s day every year since their first child was born. Sadly, on one occasion, he lost his way home after he had gone to get flowers for his wife. He had strayed 2 miles away from home. Thankfully, some kind officers helped him find his way back.
