Sometimes it’s hard to get other people’s humor because you just don’t have any common experience. But we all have one thing in common: getting older. Here’s a guy that makes light of that common experience in a few stories we can all relate to.
Marty Ross from Santa Clarita, California, was a clothing salesman for almost 50 years before he retired. When the judges asked why he never tried to make it as a stand-up comedian, he admitted the idea scared him. “I didn’t know I can stand in front of these many people and do what I do.”
Marty even turns his introduction to the judges into comedy. When asked what he’d do with the $1 million prize, Marty said, “I’ve got three ex-wives, so that means I need a million dollars like, as soon as possible!”
Marty then takes us through a number of funny stories about the pitfalls of getting old–such as visiting a nursing home and not being allowed to leave! But by far the funniest story is his last, when he tells of his friend who’s hard of hearing and her peanut allergy!
