Weddings are no doubt emotional, but this particular ceremony had their guests wailing over wedding vows. In early 2017, two military service members got married in Quincy Cellars in New York.
US Marine Corps Sergeant Joshua Newville tied the knot with Senior Airman Emily Leehan. The couple stood at the alter when Gage’s four-year-old son walk down the aisle donning Darth Vader. Then it was time to read the vows. Usually, the words are meant for the new husband or wife. But the Senior Airman Emily knew she was not just gaining a husband but a son too. So, she made sure to include the little one in her vows.
As soon as Emily began reading the vows for her son, Gage couldn’t control his tears. He opens his arms wide and hugs Emily. Witnessing this heartwarming moment, the crowd couldn’t hold their tears either. Michael Gallagher, the family photographer, told the Yahoo news, “I actually walked away from the ceremony and left my camera just recording because I was crying so much.”
The Vows read:
“I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest, and to be a good person. I know that you and I will butt heads. But I hope with all my heart that as you become a grown man, you will understand my methods and realize I have only done what is best for you and that I love you. The last thing that I hope you learn is that you are a very special boy. You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman I am today. And I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
